MORE MOORE PLEASE

John Moore was a popular designer of the 1950s and 1960s who often collaborated with Marilyn Monroe and designed Lady Bird Johnson's inaugural gown in 1965 which is in the Smithsonian. A protege of Norman Norell, Moore opened his eponymous house in 1963, after stints at Elizabeth Arden and Matty Talmack. Monroe married Arthur Miller in a Moore design. He won the Coty Award in 1953 and the black taffeta cocktail dress before is certainly worthy of an award. With a healthy dose of Parisian Couture influence, this full skirted dress has a bow motif at the bust which repeats at the hem. It's the antithesis of a basic LBD and for one-third the price of a pair of designer Balmain jeans, the savvy shopper can own a dress by a designer who knew his way around America's First Lady as well as America's First Lady of Screen, Marilyn Monroe.
