TED LAPIDUS

The great Ted Lapidus died last week in France at the age of 79. To learn more about his illustrious past and contributions to fashion, please read his obituary here.

We think the best way we might celebrate his career is by showcasing an Haute Couture design of Monsieur Lapidus from the late 1980s. This one is a "two-fer." Any regular reader of the Daily Arrival Blog knows we love "two-fer." This ensemble consists of a very grand iridescent sand chiffon pleated blouse with dramatic sleeves that end with exaggerated cuffs which are tied by complimentary ribbon. The ecru Millicent-Rogers-esque high waisted skirt with mother of pearl buttons is a dramatic compliment to the equally dramatic blouse. Either of the "two-fers" would look amazing without their respected top or bottom. The look reminds us of Gianfranco Ferre's designs of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Who doesn't love a great blouse? Plus, the skirt is brilliant with a pair of sandals and a simple white shirt with some fantastic ethnic jewelry. Confident and stylish readers know how delicious this ensemble is. Wear a piece of history by Ted Lapidus.
